The Canadian Coast Guard Hardy Bay was a three-part project consisting of the removal of existing buildings, installation of a new dock with extensive marine works, and construction of the new 16,000 sq. ft building. The Logistics Depot includes dedicated administrative space, warehouse for environmental response equipment, accommodations, and classroom/training space capable of hosting Command Posts. The building is comprised of many specialty products including heavy timber framing, live-edge feature columns, timber pavilion and installation of three totem poles. The challenges encountered during this project included the remote location, severe weather, and the construction taking place over the COVID-19 pandemic. Kinetic implemented special safety measures which resulted in no shutdowns of the site throughout the pandemic. Kinetic worked closely with the locals and hired within the town to ensure a successful delivery without the reliance on out-of-town trades.
