The original Dunsmuir Middle School was built in 1965. The blocks to be upgraded included the original building and the 1967, 1969, 1973, 1976 and 1977 classroom additions. Mechanical, civil code upgrades as well as a new roof and some minor non-structural seismic upgrading in the remainder of the school were also performed. This project was in construction while the school was fully occupied. Twelve (12) portable classrooms with washroom facilities and an outdoor corridor space were set up for temporary use during construction.
Eric Lindokken, Project Manager, and Dennis McCallum, the Site Superintendent, provided an approach that resulted not only in delivering the renovations with the highest quality, but also, 4 months ahead of schedule. Ensuring safety and restoring the school to its original state prior to construction were priorities that our team executed flawlessly and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders.
